Dr. Thai Hong practices in the western suburbs of Melbourne, offering comprehensive and thoughtful care for patients with gastroenterology needs.

He graduated with Honours in Medicine from the University of Melbourne in 2004 and specialised in gastroenterology and hepatology in 2012. Dr. Hong has completed a PhD in hepatocellular carcinoma at St Vincent’s Hospital, where he is also part of the Clinical Trials team, providing patients access to the latest research therapies for viral hepatitis B and C.

In 2014, Dr. Hong received the Young Investigator Award from the Gastroenterological Society of Australia for his research on liver cancer and its community impact. His work is published in Hepatology, the leading international journal in liver disease (Hong et al., Hepatology, 2016, 63).

He is a consultant gastroenterologist with public appointments at St Vincent’s Hospital and Werribee Mercy Hospital and maintains private practices for consultation and endoscopy in Maribyrnong, Footscray, and St Albans.

Dr. Hong practices with a philosophy of genuine physician care, aiming for holistic, patient-centred care that meets individual needs. Grateful for the welcome he received as a refugee in Australia, he is dedicated to serving the Australian community.

Outside of work, Dr. Hong actively participates in community life, hosting charity dinners, annual youth camps, and a fortnightly youth group. He served as President of the Australian Vietnamese Health Professional Association of Victoria (AVHPA-V) from 2016 to 2018.
